As a training consultant to both companies and individuals, I have faced hordes of zombie like creatures, that I lovingly call; the working dead.

Every workplace has them; those individuals whose lack of distinguishable skills sets make them the unfortunate cannon fodder in any organizational downsizing. Who like their more cannibalistic cousins, seemingly mill about aimlessly, periodically bumping into glass doors and one another, until the scent of economic turmoil and the often inevitable layoffs that follow, send them into a mad, panic induced frenzy.

In our modern technological driven world, businesses are constantly searching for innovative and fresh ideas to not only maximize profitability but to stay ahead of their competition. In light of the fact that a major contributing factor in any organizations success has always been the competent and well trained employee; every working individual should make updating and adding to their skill sets a permanent and constant practice.

For while it may be true that there is no known cure if you get bitten by a zombie (at least not until World War Z 2 comes out) there is cornucopia of professional development material and training techniques available to cure those who find themselves frantically scrambling among the working dead.

While working with various companies over the years, especially in areas that involve technology migrations or potential layoffs, my time was spent doing objective reviews of business practices, identifying core goals of organizational mission statements, preparing assessments and implementing training that would bring the core skill set of management staff and their perspective teams into alignment with needs of the organization.

So while we may not be able to offer you an emergency zombie survival kit with a machete, rope and shotgun shells, ( although with enough requests, we will make a kit available) we can offer insightful articles to help assist you cure your case of the Working Dead.
